Brief History of the USCG Aux. Aviation

The United States Congress created the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1939.  The CG Auxiliary serves as the civilian, non-military component of the Coast Guard. Today, the 35,000 volunteer men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are active on the waterways and airways in over 2,000 cities and towns across the nation.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary also has an Aviation flotillas.  We patrol the water ways from the air, make observation and assist the Coast Guard in their mission to protect and serve the people of the United Sates.  Flotilla 01-06 holds monthly meetings on the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM at the CAP Bldg. located of Lincoln Ave. (east side of Islip MacArthur Airport) Ronkonkoma, New York  11779.   SEE MAP
