Brief History of the USCG Auxiliary Aviation

The United States Congress created the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1939.  The CG Auxiliary serves as the civilian, non-military component of the Coast Guard. Today, the 35,000 volunteer men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are active on the waterways and airways in over 2,000 cities and towns across the nation.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary also has aviation flotillas.  We patrol the waterways from the air, making observations and assisting the Coast Guard in their mission to protect and serve the people of the United States.  Flotilla 01-06 holds monthly meetings on the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM at the Civil Air Patrol building, located at 1600 Lincoln Avenue (east side of MacArthur Airport) Holbrook, New York  11741.
